We have officially started the Christmas season at Preschool. We love being with your children at Christmas time!! Preschool is quickly transforming into a Christmas wonderland with glitter flying. We are a busy, happy place full of laughter. We will be reading wonderful Christmas books and singing songs that you might be hearing at home.
We are already working on a very special Christmas surprise for you to put under the tree and open on Christmas morning. We are teaching the children an important phrase—“NO PEEKING!”
We are excited about our Christmas Party, Tuesday, December 14th from 8:45 to 11:45. Our Santa is kind and gentle with the children. We will have each child sit on a chair beside Santa to talk to him if he/she would like to. . Santa is fully vaccinated and will have a health screen. We will have our Santa time outside if the weather cooperates. We will hunt for some treasures that Santa will leave. Remember we close at 11:45 so there will be no lunch. Don’t forget to still bring a snack. Tell us if your child will not be here.
We need to move our inside loft about two feet to provide more room for group time. This requires six strong, masked people to donate about 10 minutes of time. If you are able to stay at 1:00 on Thursday, December 2nd, please let us know. We will have a sign up at our Arrival table.
It is important that children wear proper fitting masks. Please make sure that your child comes each day in a clean, comfortable mask.
In the book, Unplug the Christmas Machine, the authors say that while children may be quick to tell their parents all they want for Christmas, the four things children really want are:
- A relaxed and loving time with family.
- Realistic expectations about gifts.
- An evenly paced holiday season.
- Reliable family traditions.
We know this is a busy time for us and these are difficult goals for us to achieve, but we hope that you don’t stress about the presents for your children and enjoy the simple joys of the season. Our gift to the children this year will reflect this spirit.
Christmas break will begin on Monday, December 20th. Preschool will resume on Tuesday, January 4, 2022. We will have a professional development day on Monday, January 3rd.
Brrr! It’s getting cold outside. Please remember to bring jackets and mittens and hats that are labeled and appropriate for the weather. The easier it is to put on the mittens the better! We feel that daily outdoor play is an important, healthy, and fun part of our schedule. We try to go out except in extremely bad weather Make sure to put warm clothes in your child’s cubbie.
Remember our Snow Policy—when APS is closed or has a 2 hour delay Shepherd of the Valley Preschool is closed.
Enjoy the love, joy, magic and craziness your children bring to this time of year!
