Shepherd of the Valley Preschool EDUCATORS
All our teachers go above and beyond their job descriptions to keep our community safe and provide the best care for our children and families. In our 2021 family survey 100% of families “felt that the entire staff are highly qualified and genuinely love teaching children.”
Holly Savage is the founding director of Shepherd of the Valley Preschool. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and did cancer research at the University of Pennsylvania and Duke University before moving to Albuquerque in 1983. In 1984, she became responsible for Shepherd of the Valley’s Mother’s Day Out Program, transforming it into a preschool program. Holly attended the University of New Mexico to receive her Master’s in Education with an emphasis in home school connection and early childhood science. She continues to take graduate courses and earned an Administrative License in 2014. She currently serves on the Albuquerque Cabinet Workforce committee, CNM Education Advisory Board and leads the CNM Directors Network.
Mixing colors, having delightful conversations with little ones, and a bit of messy fun are some of her favorite parts of preschool. She enjoys spending time outside hiking, biking, and exploring beautiful places. When Holly is not cheering kiddos on at the bottom of the big yellow slide on the playground, she loves spending time with her family, especially her grandbabes!
Laurie Taylor has been associated with Shepherd of the Valley Preschool since 1991, when her older daughter Tess, and then Hannah, attended preschool here. She served on the Board of Directors and then became the Liaison Elder for our church and preschool. In 1995, she was delighted to join our preschool staff, and she still loves to come to work every day.
Prior to moving to Albuquerque in 1989, Laurie and husband, Rick, lived in New York City for eleven years. Laurie moved to NYC after completing her BFA in theatre at the University of Evansville, in Evansville, Indiana with emphasis in acting and costume design. She has received many acting honors including performing at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and making personal appearances as Spiderwoman for Marvel Comics.
Being both a teacher and a director keeps Laurie busy and interested.
